Job Overview As part of the Clinical Resource (CR) Team, the Clinical Assistant serves as a system-wide resource, by assisting patients and families in personal hygiene and daily living needs.
The Clinical Assistant provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring.
In addition, this role supports and assists nursing personnel and other providers in diagnostic procedures and technical treatments and functions as a member of the healthcare team.
The Clinical Assistant may begin their shift in one unit and based on a change in census and acuity be reallocated to a different unit to meet operational needs.
However, it is also possible for the Clinical Assistant to experience extended periods of time in one department to offset long-term absences through the Months Program.
The Clinical Resource Team CAs float to every unit, including the Network of Care sites.
Daily assignments can change to meet the staffing requirements of the hospital.
CRT CAs can be assigned to a unit or to a patient for a 1:
1 assignment.
Responsibilities POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Neonate - 30 days to 1yr Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs School age - >5yrs to 13yrs Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions.

Attends to the individual needs of patients, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinent care, toileting, transferring, providing comfort and communicating patient needs with other members of the healthcare team.
Performs various tasks as assigned, including checking vital signs, weighing patients, applying creams/ointments, applying/changing dressings and collecting specimens.
Meets patient needs by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to healthcare team members.
Serves as a conduit between patients and other healthcare providers by recording and communicating all issues to medical team members.
Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Stores and prepares rooms and medical equipment for patient and healthcare team member use.
Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.

Qualifications MINIMUM
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Certification(s):
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association is required.
Designation as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required.
Proof of successful completion of health assessment and nursing foundation courses, in addition to basic medical/surgical clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program may be considered in lieu of designation as a CNA, MA and/or EMT.
Physical Requirements Ability to Perform Essential Functions of the Job Body Movement:
