Summary:
This position reports directly to Dr.
Brian Russo to develop and support a NIH-funded research project related to the laboratory's focus on defining the function of the cellular cytoskeleton during infection and inflammation.
The main objective is to perform research that will enhance our understanding of how intermediate filament protein abundance is regulated in cells.
The research instructor will perform genetic screens to identify regulatory pathways of intermediate filament proteins, develop a prioritized list of hits, and define molecular mechanisms by which these hits regulate intermediate filament abundance in cells using genetic, biochemical, and proteomic approaches in cellular and animal models.
The research instructor is expected to maintain a highly functional, organized, and compliant research environment.
Key
Responsibilities:
Research duties Design and execute experimental approaches Perform analysis of collected experimental data Prepare manuscripts of research findings Contribute content to and actively participate in lab meetings and departmental presentations Organize, contribute content to, and actively participate in the writing of manuscripts and grants; Present project findings at internal and external meetings and conferences Maintain orderly records of research in a laboratory notebook and maintain generated samples in an orderly manner.
General lab management, including:
Manage/maintain biosafety and chemical safety guidelines and protocols to ensure adherence to regulatory compliance requirements Write and maintain the lab Institutional Biosafety Committee and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Protocols Write and implement lab policies Write and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for developed laboratory protocols.
Oversee training of new staff to ensure compliance with all regulatory procedures Ensure sample inventory is maintained and up to date Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Ph.
D.
degree in Cell biology/Immunology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/related field A demonstrated track-record of publishing their research findings.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience with methods for DNA, RNA, and protein analysis Experience with cell culture and generation of genetically modified cell lines.
Experience with genome-scale screens Experience with molecular cloning Experience with protein purification Experience with animal models Experience with bioinformatic approaches Experience with research design, development of research hypotheses, and methods to test them.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$66,000 - $85,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
