Summary:
Within the Division of Cardiology, this Laboratory Science Professional will be based within the Vagnozzi Lab.
But will also support other Cardiology Animal Core Labs.
This lab studies the cellular mechanisms of injury and stress responses in the heart.
They are particularly interested in the innate immune system and how inflammation impacts wound healing, fibrosis, and tissue remodeling in beneficial as well as adverse ways.
They use the mouse as their primary model, which allows them to interrogate gene functions and signaling pathways, perform genetic lineage tracing, and mimic complex cardiovascular pathology in a mammalian system.
The lab's goal is to understand the regulatory mechanisms of cardiac wound healing and discover novel approaches to repair or even rejuvenate the damaged heart.
Their approach, first and foremost, is driven by a shared lab culture of teamwork, discovery, and high-quality science.
Key
Responsibilities:
Mouse colony management:
including animal husbandry, genotyping (PCR), weaning, breeding of complex transgenic lines across 3-4 labs in the Division Rigorous, detailed, and timely record keeping of mouse colony information in lab-specific format (electronic record software such as Softmouse, or Excel spreadsheets) Basic animal procedures as needed to ensure the optimal health of mouse colonies (including teeth and nail trimming, injections, implementing and providing supplements to food/water, special diets, etc.
) Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results.
Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical test process and evaluate results produced.
Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.
Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information.
Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required Why Join Us:

Qualifications:
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $40,280 - $51,236.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
