Summary:
The Division of GITES/Bariatrics Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full-time faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services primarily at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).
The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services for bariatrics surgery patients.
Duties include patient assessment, patient education, care coordination, and disease management.
This position is primarily outpatient.
However, inpatient care, rounding, discharge activities, and first-assisting in the OR may be needed.
Close collaboration with Breast/Surgical Oncology surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary.
Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and primary care providers is essential.
The candidate will provide care to patients on the inpatient wards, in the intensive care unit, acute care areas, first assist in the OR and in the outpatient clinics.
The NP/PA will be a critical part of service continuity and also a link between the inpatient and outpatient environments for patients.
The census and acuity of clinical activity varies service to service and NP/PAs may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services and locations to deal with this issue.
Key
Responsibilities:
Clinic visits/assessments/care coordination - New patient consults, pre/post-operative visits, annual follow-up visits, same day add-ons Pre-operative lab review on all patients 1 week prior to surgery Post-operative phone calls (2 days post-op) Assess/treat symptomatic post-operative patients Order/oversee IVFs for post-op patients, PRN Lab review and coordination with clinic RD 1st assist in OR, as needed Bariatric pager coverage On-call for Virtual Health team for Same Day Discharge patients until 8pm, as needed Clinical resource for RNs, RD for triage calls, symptomatic clinic patients Prescription/management of Weight Loss Medications Participation on multidisciplinary team including:
Metabolic and Bariatric Committee Meetings, Bariatric Multi-D Patient Review sessions, Bariatric Collaborative Case Review Active participant in MBSAQIP QI projects and Site Visit Why Join Us:

Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
NP Minimum Qualification:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Masters degree in Nursing.
Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive privileges.
Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board PA Minimum
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges.
Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Medical Review Board NP/PA Preferred
Qualifications:
Two years' experience in GI/bariatrics is preferred.

The starting salary range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$99,717 to $134,906The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
