Summary:
We have an exceptional opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Supervisor for our cleaning and sterilization lab.
This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our lab, with a focus on infection control and quality standards.
By supervising and assisting staff, you will contribute to maintaining a safe and sanitized environment while adhering to established procedures and techniques.
Key Responsibilities :
Supervision & Work Lead (60%):
Determines processes by evaluating the existing instrument cleaning and decontamination procedures and identifying areas for improvement.
Designing a set of operations when introducing new equipment or instruments, ensuring that proper cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization procedures are established.
Oversee and support staff in the cleaning and decontamination of instruments and equipment.
Ensure proper functioning of equipment and sanitize machines.
Maintain an appropriate inventory of sterilized instruments for distribution to various clinics.
Anticipate and integrate the demand for sterile instruments, adjusting output accordingly.
Identify and address instrumentation needs for special programs and events.
Staff Development, Support, Training (30%):
Provide guidance and training to staff on sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and infection control.
Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions in a timely manner.
Make decisions regarding training requirements and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
Develop and implement processes, procedures, and SOPs to ensure compliance.
Monitor staff attendance and provide coaching when necessary.
Quality Control (10%):
Develop, maintain, and monitor sterilization records and operating standards.
Document sterilizer process cycles and conduct verification tests.
Ensure compliance with OSAP Quality Assurance standards.
Perform biological monitoring and adhere to clinic guidelines and infection control policies.
Stay updated on changes to sterilization and infection control procedures.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Five years of experience receiving, storing, sterilizing and issuing dental tools, instruments or equipment, which included at least two years of supervisory or work lead experience.
Substitution :
Successful completion of an accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of general experience, but not for the two years of supervisory or work lead experience.
Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be willing and able to work various shifts if an employee is out.
Sterilization has two current shifts and is considering adding a third shift.
Must be willing and able to stand for long periods of time and walk to distribute carts to dispensaries.
Must be willing and able to reach overhead, often lifting items up and down 1-10 lbs.
Must be willing and able to lift 10 to 25 lbs on a regular/daily basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Certification either as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or as a Sterile Processing and Distribution (SPD) Technician from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
Experience working in a high-volume sterilization area.
Experience establishing, monitoring, ordering, organizing and maintaining dental and clinical inventory supplies and equipment.
Experience working with faculty, staff and students in a higher education and/or hospital setting.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of dental/medical terminology Knowledge of dental/medical materials, tools, instruments and equipment Knowledge of proper use and technique of dental tools and instruments Knowledge of proper sterilization and aseptic processes, procedures, requirements, tools and equipment Ability to work with computer-based inventory and tracking databases, such as AXIOM Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as the ability to work independently and stay on task with little to no supervision Must have dental terminology and know dental instrumentation of all areas of dentistry.
