Summary:
The CU Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Principal Marketing & Communications Specialist to join and support the Department's efforts on enhancing its internal and external communications.
The Marketing & Communications Specialist, hereinafter referred to as the Specialist, will provide daily management and coordination of, as well as overall strategic planning for, the Department of Anesthesiology's marketing and communications needs.
This position will maintain departmental branding and logos, marketing materials and processes, and various communication avenues including the ownership of the Department Newsletter, Intranet, Website, and marketing videos.
This position will be the primary point of contact for all Department marketing and communications and will serve as the Department's subject matter expert in marketing and communications strategies, publications, and systems, including the utilization of Marketing Cloud.
The Specialist reports directly to the Department of Anesthesiology's People Operations Director.
The Specialist will be expected to take direction from the Chair and Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), on a variety of work responsibilities.
The Specialist will provide assistance to other designated individuals who have been assigned program or administrative roles with faculty, including any designated Assistant or Associate Directors.
Key
Responsibilities:
Management & Coordination of Marketing and Communications:
Manages all aspects of overall marketing, communications, and brand strategy for the Department of Anesthesiology in concern with the Department's strategic plan.
Researching, gathering, creating, and managing content for Department newsletters, web content, fliers, press releases, etc.
Upgrading and managing the Department's online presence, to include the public-facing Department website, in conjunction with campus web professionals.
Serving as the subject matter expert in social media and managing the Department's social media presence, to include oversight of content and strategy.
Develop collaborations with other departments/schools to facilitate implementation of communication efforts.
Monitor, report on, and communicate progress of strategic plans, project plans, deliverables, and achievements.
Develop and deploy advertising campaigns as they relate to marketing open faculty positions and promotion trainee opportunities.
Manage additional ad-hoc campaigns for events, special programs, etc.
Develop and manage marketing and communications budgets, including meeting regularly with the finance program director to ensure accurate and timely reporting of expenses and reconciliation of accounts; complete financial assessments and analysis regarding funds/budgets.
Systems & Database Management:
Manage all databases that are applicable to marketing and communication.
Serve as the subject matter expert for Marketing Cloud and Salesforce for the utilization of contact and communications lists and sending department-wide communications such as the Department Newsletter.
Responsible for researching marketing and communications systems, approved for use by the University, for implementation to improve efficiency and effectiveness of marketing and communications.
Management of any and all newly acquired systems and/or databases; responsible for training others how to utilize these systems, if/when necessary.
Manage the Department's listserv and email distribution lists and coordinate with appropriate constituents to ensure the lists are accurate and updated in a timely manner.
Oversee the Department intranet to promote internal communications and announcements and approve and implement requested changes.
Work Location:
Hybrid - All new employees in the Department of Anesthesiology must be on site full-time (five days/week) during their training period.
An individual's training period is position- and incumbent-specific.
Once the individual's supervisor has determined that the employee is fully trained, the employee and supervisor will work together to create a flexible hybrid work schedule for the employee, requiring that the employee be on campus 2-3 days per week, at minimum, depending on their job functions.

Qualifications:
Minimum
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
The position requires three (3) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility working in communications, public relations, social media, and/or marketing with experience with project management.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education and/or academic medicine.
Development (fundraising) experience.
Experience with the creation and development of print, broadcast, and/or digital media.
Experience with marketing campaign planning and results reporting.
Experience with web content platforms and web content management and strategy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
Excellent knowledge of Marketing Cloud.
Demonstrated storytelling abilities across multiple mediums including, but not limited to, print, social media, website, digital media, and video.

Expertise in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word) as well as Marketing Cloud, Canva, website content management platforms, CRMs, and Social Media skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and documents and maintain strict confidentiality in all applicable matters, using professionalism and discretion in conversations.
Ability to communicate effectively in brief, focused and well-organized oral and written presentations.
Ability to work and think independently, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
Ability to understand and apply institutional requirements at the department level.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $62,393 - $79,363.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
