Summary:
Instructors are Clinical Faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine that will work in the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) Network of Care (NOC) including Freestanding Urgent Care facilities and Dual Track Emergency Departments in the Denver metro area.
In this role, they will provide medical care to acutely ill and injured pediatric patients age birth to 22 years.
They will complete history taking, physical examination, and define and execute an appropriate workup that leads to diagnosis with treatment and disposition.
Work in this setting will require technical and procedural skills and may require pediatric resuscitation and advanced life support (see skills below).
In addition, Clinical Faculty members are involved with institutional quality and patient safety improvement and development of clinical care guidelines that aim to provide consistent, quality care throughout the institution and are core members of the clinical Pediatric teaching staff for University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Examples of Work PerformedThe duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
1,520 Clinical hours for full-time.
This is the total clinical hours after accounting for all annual vacation, CME and holidays.
Coverage will consist of Children's Hospital Colorado, Denver metro Urgent Care and Dual Track facilities and will include:

Pediatric urgent care and low-acuity emergent careb.
Jeopardy shifts (internal coverage system for unanticipated absence) Clinical coverage of urgent care shifts during the hours of 11a-9pm in a 365 day a year model.
Potential future provision of Virtual Urgent Care coverage.
Attend at least 75% of the monthly joint section and operational updates meetings of the Section of Emergency Medicine.
Clinical teaching of Medical Students, Advanced Practice Provider Students, Family Practice Residents and Pediatric Residents Clinical Supervision and support of onboarding for Advanced Practice Providers and Pediatricians Participation in Quality Improvement and development of Clinical Care Guidelines Maintenance of skills required for provision of high quality, patient centered, safe urgent/emergent care of children.
Annual requirements include but may not be limited to:
o Two half-day Acute Care Education sessions put on by the Section per academic yearo Other technical seminars as deemed mandatory by the section and/or practice site in conjunction with input from the Directoro Maintenance of PALS certificationo Maintenance of Board CertificationAdditional opportunities that may be available:
Committee membership at Hospital, Departmental, Section and University levels Urgent Care Leadership.
Not required, but opportunities may exist for interested faculty.
Clinical Research.
Not required, but multiple opportunities exist for involvement for interested faculty.

Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background checkPreferred Qualifications Two or more years' experience in pediatric acute care environment (OR completing a Pediatric Residency program with significant experience in Urgent Care and electives and/or extra-clinical activities that demonstrate interest in and preparedness for pediatric urgent care) Experience teaching medical students and residents.
Experience supervising/collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers Prior use of EPICKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced understanding of pediatric disease and injury patterns Understanding of and familiarity with resources to assist in making clinical decisions and diagnosis Use of electronic medical record (EPIC) Supervision of medical learners and APPs while simultaneously managing personal patients Effectively and respectfully field calls from referring physicians to facilitate referral to site appropriate for presenting problem/service requested and transport to site Effectively lead and respectfully communicate with a team of medical providers and staff to provide collaborative, high-quality care Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment for 8-11 hours at a time Willing to work a mix of weekdays, weekends and holidays Interpretation of plain radiographs Foreign body removal Laceration repair including vermillion border repair (some advanced techniques may be learned on job) Incision and drainage Reduction of minor digit fractures or joint dislocations (can be learned on job) Nerve blocks Acute respiratory care Pediatric resuscitation while awaiting EMS (must maintain PALS certification and complete required mock resuscitations as set by Section) Emergent Intubation if needed for transport (PALS required)How to Apply:

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$175,000 - $230,000The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
