Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Dental Assisting and EDDA Instructor delivers lectures in the classroom, demonstrates skills in clinical settings, and gives students hands-on experience in the lab according to an approved course syllabus using qualified and effective teaching methods.
They develop daily lesson plans along with curriculum materials, advise and tutor students, and maintain current, accurate attendance and grade records.
Remain current in the applicable program teaching field, participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and two (2) in-service training sessions annually.
Instructors will also participate in college activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include:
Complying with all federal, state, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures.
Teaching didactic hands-on/lab components of an assigned course(s) or program according to the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) curriculum course/program objectives.
In-depth knowledge of dental assisting procedures, infection control, radiography, and dental office management.
Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and best practices is also valuable.
Teach courses in accordance with the campus class schedule, including the beginning and end of class, and all class breaks.
Maintain accurate, timely records of students' attendance, academic grades, and progress.
Enforcing classroom management policies and processes, including attendance taking and program-related dress code.
Conducting one-on-one student advisements, course-specific student academic remediation, and student coaching/tutoring.
Meets with the Program Director to provide course updates, and identifies students at risks of not meeting curriculum requirements.
Developing and implementing student-centered and student-engaging classroom activities and methods of teaching and learning.
Participating in faculty meetings and in-service trainings.
Follow applicable requirements for Continuing Education Units.
Maintain professional, technical, and instructional competencies through in-service training provided by Pickens Technical College and independent professional development activities.
Meeting or exceeding student retention objectives as set by the Program Director.
Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The qualifications for this position are:
Must be a CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or willing to obtain the CDA within 2 months of being hired.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or willing to obtain one within 3 years of your hire date.
Minimum of five (5) years in the dental profession.
Prior experience as an instructor is preferred.
A strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and computer skills.
Successful candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching authorization/license, and a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) full-time secondary/postsecondary credential.
