The Psychologist/ Team Leader provides administrative coordination and clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary Mental Health Clinic in a complex setting within a very large medical center.
She/he participates as both the administrative and clinical lead as well as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
As a clinical member of the team, the psychologist conducts evidence-based psychosocial treatment and psychological assessment in the care of eligible veterans and their family members.
Patient's healthcare and psychosocial problems are complex and require a high degree of clinical oversight and creative problem-solving.
As Team Leader, the psychologist assists in planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the multidisciplinary staff of their assigned program.
The incumbent will assure the multidisciplinary staff under her or his supervision are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations.
The incumbent will conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies.
Supervisory Duties:
The incumbent has the responsibility to provide leadership, guidance and supervision to the mental health clinic staff including social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, trainees of respective disciplines, and support staff members in the Mental Health Clinic.
The incumbent provides administrative, technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
Clinical Responsibilities o Performs evaluations for patient conditions that include depression, anxiety, substance abuse and general emotional and cognitive functioning.
o The assessment and care provided accommodate to the cognitive, emotional, chronological maturation, and diversity needs of the person served.
o Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models of care in the outpatient mental health setting.
o Conducts assessment appropriate to individual patient with attention to on the implications of test results for a veteran's every day, real-world function and successful treatment/management of health problems with an emphasis on behavioral health factors associated with homelessness.
o Provides group, individual, and family psychotherapy and counseling to veterans and family members as indicated through assessment process.
o Provides psychoeducation to patients and family members to support healthcare adherence and relapse prevention.
o Works closely with Interdisciplinary Team to achieve patient's outcome goals.
o Works with Interdisciplinary Team to coordinate the care of the person served.
o Consults to ambulatory care staff and primary care providers on a wide variety of patient care issues pertinent to medical treatment and psychosocial recovery.
o Provides services in the outpatient mental health setting.
o Consults and coordinates with community providers following HIPPA practices to support psychosocial recovery of the person served.

Candidate must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours.
