Job Summary:
BIT Systems is looking for the newest member of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team located in the Aurora, CO area. The ideal candidate for this position has strong technical problem solving and an OPS first mentality. Candidates must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities and be able to switch focus between tasks to remain productive.
This position provides a variety of software and IT support services to ensure customer satisfaction with production software and systems. The position specifically focuses on the operations of GOTS software to ensure data integrity and availability for a large ETL (extract, transform and load) system, but includes general system troubleshooting, maintenance and system upgrades.
The primary responsibility of this position will be to enhance the DevOPS culture on the program to support the collaboration and communication of both software developers and other information-technology (IT) professionals while automating the process of software delivery and infrastructure changes. Candidates must have strong technical skills, experience with backend computer systems and the ability to communicate effectively with others. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation with the following technologies: Linux, scripting (bash, Perl, Python, etc.), relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.), cloud technologies (Hadoop, Accumulo and Map Reduce), Amazon Web Services, Jenkins, JBoss application server, Java, and Puppet. In addition, an understanding of continuous integration/deployment and agile software development methodologies is a plus. No candidate is expected to be an expert in all of the areas, but they must have the desire to expanding their skillset to learn these technologies and new ones as the program evolves.
The position is for a mid- to senior-level engineer with experience in both software development and systems administration. Candidates must be able to work in a fast moving environment with many moving parts and must be able to juggle serval tasks at once. In addition, they must be willing to share on-call responsibilities to include coming into work during non-business hours to troubleshoot customer issues.
Required Skills/Experience:
Typically requires a BA/BS degree in Computer Science (or related major) or equivalent and 5-7 years of related experience.
Minimum of 7 years' experience with Linux/Unix environments
Strong technical problem solving skills
Willingness to learn new technologies in an ever-changing environment
Candidate must have a TS/SCI clearance and have or be willing to obtain a current Polygraph
Ability to multitask a variety of responsibilities in a fast moving environment
Candidate must be certified to meet DoD 8570 level IAT-II qualifications. A Security+ or higher certification is required or the willingness to become certified within 6 months of start date.
Willing to share on-call responsibilities to include coming into work during non-business hours to troubleshoot customer issues
Desired Skills/Experience:
Prior DevOPS experience
Automated deployment and configuration experience
Strong software scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
Hadoop, Accumulo and Map Reduce techniques
Strong relational database experience (PostgresSQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)
Continuous Integration/Deployment process and software (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.) experience
Experience running and monitoring Java applications
Software versioning control systems (GIT, SVN, etc.)
Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and OGC WMS/WFS/KML
Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
General duties include:
Software deployments and integration of geographically diverse computing systems
Enhance software deployments to utilize automation
Troubleshoot server side issues of various products
Support production data processing and data distribution systems
Install, configure, and update a wide array of COTS/GOTS and homegrown software applications
Support and troubleshoot diverse IT infrastructure hardware platforms and protocols
Work with software development and systems administration staff to monitor and troubleshoot production systems
Generate and maintain systems documentation and diagrams
Troubleshoot network issues and establish new connectivity
Monitor and maintain a variety of databases
Additional BITS Information:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
