Summary ? Inpatient Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
The University of Colorado Hospital Inpatient Operating Rooms consist of 25 state of the art surgical suites, including hybrid ORs and an intraoperative MRI scanner. Working in the inpatient operating room you will be exposed to a wide variety of surgical procedures, from small surgical cases to large challenging cases like heart and lung transplants and innovative new cases such as laparoscopic whipples. As an OR nurse here you will be engaged with challenging cases, friendly surgeons and staff, and a team atmosphere that has been encouraged by the strong ties to academic medicine. The OR nurses at University of Colorado Hospital are trained to both scrub and circulate a very wide variety of cases and have opportunities to join one of the specialty teams within the OR such as orthopaedics, cardiothoracic, among many others.
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Job Duties
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age,culture, condition, and circumstances.
Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
May precept student nurses and new hires.
Circulate a variety of service lines including general surgery, GU/GYN, robotics, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, liver and kidney transplant, vascular, plastics, burns and trauma/acute care, neuro, ENT, and Spine.
Scrub (on the job training provided with no prior experience) a variety of cases including general surgery, GU/GYN, plastics, neuro, ENT, burns and trauma/acute care. Opportunities exist to join specialty teams and scrub more complex cases such as vascular, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, liver and kidney transplant or spine.
All day shift employees take between 4-8 call shifts (usually 5 or 6) per 8 week schedule period, night, weekend and evening shift staff are exempted from the call shift requirement.
Requirements
6 months nursing experience
State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Graduate of an accredited Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years' experience
BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Preferences
1 year relevant nursing experience (Operating Room, L&D, GI Labs, IR, Cath Lab, EP Lab)
Flexibility with scheduling
Epic documentation experience
Willingness to be active on committees

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
