Social Work Counselor I

Job Summary
The University of Colorado Denver seeks a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Social Work Counselor I for an open position within the Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) Adult Outpatient Program, with clinic locations in Denver, Aurora and Lakewood. The ARTS Adult Outpatient Program is within the School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. ARTS Adult Outpatient clinics provide drug and alcohol assessment, psychosocial and pharmacological treatment for adults. Programs in various clinic locations include traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient and may contain specialty services for clients referred by the criminal justice system, county departments of human services, and services for pregnant women, individuals who are HIV positive or gender responsive services.
Job Duties
Assessment, intake, and referral
Interviews clients for admission to outpatient drug/alcohol treatment. Assesses the need for treatment or referrals. Recommends course of action to referral sources.
Treatment Planning
Writes and carries out individualized treatment plans for clients. Documents progress toward treatment goals. Gathers and records client psychosocial histories. Amends treatment plans based on client history and progress in treatment.
Provide Treatment Services
Conducts individual, group, and family counseling sessions and documents these sessions in progress notes. Coordinates treatment with medical provider as appropriate. Communicates with families and community agencies regarding discharge and aftercare plans. Alters focus of treatment as necessary.Documentation.
Maintains current and accurate records and treatment notes as required by policy. Ensures all appropriate releases of information are signed and up to date.
Collaboration
Composes reports and memorandum. Communicates clients' treatment progress to community partners. Counselor is to exercise discretion regarding what information is appropriate to disclose and should seek guidance from their supervisor.
Supervision and case staffing
Attends treatment team meetings and case conferences for purpose of discussing clients' treatment and clinic policies. Assists in team treatment planning as required. Consults with clinical supervisor to ensure continued quality of care.
Note: This is an essential services position. The incumbent is required to respond after hours during emergencies and report to work for regular assigned shifts during emergency campus closures.
PLEASE NOTE : Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is $42,075 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, counseling psychology, or closely related field.
One year experience providing substance abuse treatment in a counselor role with clients who are involved with probation, parole, and/or human services.
Conditions of Employment:
Eligible to obtain a clinical license within twelve or less months.
Registered with the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
Must agree to fingerprinting and criminal background check. Required background checks include a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) AND the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails).
Within the first year of employment, must complete certification for medical case manager.
Subject to pre-employment, post-accident or incident or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing per UCD Addiction Research and Treatment Services Department Policies
Substitution:
A combination of work experience and education that provided the same kind and level of knowledge acquired in the required education for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis may substitute for the education
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, counseling psychology, or closely related field.
+ Bi-lingual
+ Certified Addiction Counselors II (CACII) or higher
+ Experience providing evidence-based practices and programs
+ Experience working with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
+ Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
