We have several custodial openings for which we are seeking to fill immediately to provide custodial services at County owned buildings.
Openings include a day time shift (6:00 am 2:30 pm) on the Western side of the County and two evening shifts (4:00 pm 12:30 am): one on the Eastern side and one on the Western side of the County.
Our anticipated hiring range is $11.60 - $13.74 per hour ($24,562.46 - $29,093.74 per year).

Duties:
The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of the job at any time.
Performs a variety of duties involving the maintaining and cleaning of Arapahoe County facilities. Essential functions include:
Sweeping, vacuuming and/or mopping hard or carpeted floors,
Cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities and fixtures; replenishing restroom supplies,
Dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment,
Emptying, cleaning and sanitizing waste receptacles and removing debris,
Washing windows, mirrors and walls,
Replacing lights and adjusting shades and blinds,
Transporting recycling bins to and from facilities,
Spot cleaning carpets, removing gum, stains, spills, and similar,
Driving to and from facilities to provide cleaning services,
Providing laundry services,
Cleaning air vents and identifying/reporting building maintenance needs on occasion,
Moving furniture and equipment in the line of performing normal custodian functions,
Preparing and monitoring rooms for conferences and meetings and securing afterwards (may include some weekend work),
Raising, lowering, folding and storing flags,
Responding to on-site inquiries from the public and helping to resolve custodian services requests.
May escort contractors while in County facilities. Will lock and un-lock buildings at the start and end of each business day.
Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to effectively communicate in English language, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform physical tasks as assigned.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and fellow co-workers.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate buffer and other mechanized cleaning equipment is desired.
Ability to read at a standard high school level, enabling comprehension of warning labels and written instructions.
Knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices.
Shall be familiar with and know how to use the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
One year of custodial experience
(An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient).
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
Must successfully pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, background and motor vehicle check.
Will also require post-hire fingerprinting, a CBI background check and successfully completing bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System training.
Must be able to work nights and weekends on a full-time basis.
Position is deemed essential and incumbents must be available for during winter storm emergencies and available to work on an on-call on a rotation basis which requires evening, holidays and weekends.
Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business need.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED :
Receives general supervision from the Facilities Custodial Supervisor and Lead Custodian. Majority of work duties are performed independently.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED :
None
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS :
Contacts are generally limited to co-workers and supervisors. Involve receiving direction or discussing the less routine aspects of the assignment. May occasionally be in contact with the public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Work is generally performed indoors and potentially requires exposure to dust, fumes and chemical cleaners. Specific assignments may require occasional outdoor work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
Constantly stands, walks, stoops, bends and reaches during shift.
Occasionally lifting trash bags, wash buckets, boxes, chairs, tables, etc. which may be heavy, bulky or awkward.
Occasionally required to lift awkward objects, up to 25 lbs. from ground level to waist or higher. Team lifting for bulky, awkward or objects greater than 50 pounds.
Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication.
Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination while using custodial equipment.
Physical capacity to safely operate County machinery.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
