VOLUNTEER Child and Adult Protection Services Division

The Arapahoe County Department of Human Services builds strong communities by promoting the safety, independence and stability of individuals and families. The Childand Adult ProtectionServices Division is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks that help us in working towards our mission and providing excellent customer service to community members and families in Arapahoe County. We have Volunteer positions that can accommodate daytime, evening, or weekend hours. Positions include: help with recurring groups/activities/events, clerical assistance, donation assistance, and respite help for foster families. The Child and Community Support Services Division is seeking information ambassadors to assist and direct visitors to the appropriate locations to obtain services.
The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the various volunteer positions and do not include other non essential or marginal duties that may be required. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of the volunteer position at any time.
Provide clients, who are waiting in the lobby, with application assistance for many federal assistance programs and information on proper verifications. Help to guide clients to the appropriate areas for their needs.
Ensure clients receive assistance with their state program application and answers to questions regarding the programs and resources. Work as a partner in acquiring proper resources for walk-in clients.
Have a working knowledge of social agencies to identify the appropriate programs, locate sources of support, and navigate the process to assist the client in accessing services for assistance.
Assist with supervision of the parenting time group, monitoring children and families.
Set up and cleanup for group meetings.
Prepare activities for group meetings.
Assist with light clerical duties for a team of Child Welfare Caseworkers.
Basic familiarity with computers.
Participate in activities with and monitor children who come from a variety of backgrounds.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Age 21 or older
Must successfully pass a background check.
Commit to volunteer in the position for a minimum of six months to one year.

This in an _unpaid volunteer_ opportunity with Arapahoe County Department of Human Services.

Attend a mandatory orientation.
Attend bi-monthly mandatory volunteer meetings.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
