Professional Research Assistant
The Department of Immunology & Microbiology has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.
This is an entry-level laboratory research position. This position will participate in the initiation of research projects and maintain the operations of the lab. Experience and background in molecular biology, cellular immunology and animal models are needed for this position. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently and as a team member of the research group.
The job responsibilities are to perform research work in laboratory setting on a daily basis and participate in our group research activities as needed, which include:
+ Perform experiments as related to research project
+ Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects
+ Trouble-shooting and problem-solving as related to the research project
+ Analyze experimental results and prepare data for publication in peer-reviewed journals and for presentation at scientific meetings.
+ Tabulate research data and keep a detailed, easy to understand laboratory notebook, and accurately collect and maintain up-to-date records of experimental data
+ Present data and journal articles in a laboratory meeting setting
+ Be willing to work occasionally with flexible hours
+ Conduct literature searches
+ Prepare reagents for routine laboratory work
+ Ensure that reagents (plasmids and other biological reagents) that are generated are properly documented and stored in the laboratory.
+ Complete University laboratory safety training and maintain University certification to work with radioisotopes, hazardous chemicals, infectious agents, recombinant DNA molecules, and animals.
+ Follow all University guidelines regarding the management of chemical, radiochemical and infectious waste.
+ Molecular biology work including gel electrophoresis, PCR, cloning and subcloning.
+ Tissue culture
+ Genotyping mouse models
+ Microscopic and flow cytometric analysis
+ Animal care related to research procedures
+ Computer software or technical skills.
Special conditions of employment:
This position may require occasional extended hours and/or time outside normal working hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology or other related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience and background in molecular biology, cellular immunology and animal modes are highly desirable.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
