HPIE Sr Principal Consultant

This position exists to provide expert support & guidance to facility & regional level improvement advisors (e.g., design, planning, communication, coordination, project team over-site, implementation, monitoring, reporting, evaluation) & technical support for Kaiser Permanente's improvement system. The scope of work projects will be broad & comprehensive & include development of performance improvement capacity educational tools that will support promotion of the Department of Care & Service Quality & national Quality Committee priorities to improve performance in any of the "Big-Q Areas." Key stakeholders include but are not limited to the National Leadership Team, National Quality Committee, Regional leadership groups, regional & facility representatives & labor management partners. This position facilitates, directs, & leads program office & interregional activities to achieve organizational performance improvement capacity goals. Plans, organizes, & directs the operation of performance improvement capacity efforts & programs & execution strategy for strategic initiatives as identified by the leadership of the Department of Care & Service Quality & the National Quality Committee. Advises the overall development of programs for improvement capacity & consults w/ various internal & external stakeholders on execution of performance improvement initiatives including local site leaders, staff physicians, labor partners, regional & national colleagues, & senior leaders at all levels in efforts aligned w/ KP's quality & business strategies.
Essential Functions:
Implementation Group: Implementation of Kaiser Permanente's lean applications & rapid improvement events.
Assisting facility improvement advisors w/ the development of standardized work flows, instructions & procedures.
Development & implementation of key quality systems including: assisting facilities w/ configuration management systems, corrective action & human resources support, SPC, web site portals for metrics, projects & communication across facilities.
Training of KP personnel on quality improvement principle; assessing strategic priorities & mapping systems, Identifying cost savings / standardization opportunities w/in operations; Analyzing the cost drivers of systems & high priority levers of improvement; Scoping portfolios for 90-120 day cycles of improvement w/ sequencing of portfolios & initiatives.
Leading complex programs for change & driving change in all facets of the care delivery system.
Development of key business operational metrics for both process control & management reporting.
Introduce, via working in a collaborative process w/ other functional areas, robust processes that assist in building the product brand name of Kaiser.
Travel required for medical center level support & events & participation as faculty in the improvement Institute.
Use Quality Engineering principles, tools, & practices to develop & optimize systems & processes that are aligned w/ the overall business & the Quality vision.
Ensure that these systems & processes provide a measurable impact to quality, cost, customer value, cycle time & Throughput.
Identify opportunities to continuously improve quality, cost, & time factors, consistent w/ business objectives.
Establish appropriate business metrics.
Identify the most significant business issues & prioritize for action.
Support the facility improvement advisor in his/her ability to lead, sell, & implement improvement opportunities & problem solutions.
Ensure robust processes are transferred to Operations at a facility level.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum ten (10) years of related experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree in relevant field required.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (for Implementation group).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
