Custodial Floor Technician

Arapahoe County is looking for a Custodial - Floor Technician to work at the Arapahoe County Justice Center and servicing floors at several locations.
In addition to normal cleaning/custodial activities, this role will be focused on cleaning, buffing and waxing the various floor surfaces in County buildings.

The hours will be 4:00 pm to 12:30 a.m. and our anticipated hiring pay is between $11.80 - $13.98 per hour($24,562 - 29,093 annually).
Duties:
The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non essential or marginal duties that may be required. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of the job at any time.
Performs a variety of duties involving the maintaining and cleaning of Arapahoe County facilities. Essential functions include:
Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, stripping and polishing hard or carpeted floors
Cleaning and sanitizing restroom facilities and fixtures; replenishing restroom supplies
Dusting and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment
Emptying, cleaning and sanitizing waste receptacles and removing debris
Washing windows, mirrors and walls
Replacing lights and adjusting shades and blinds
Regulating ventilation and temperature, cleaning air vents and identifying/reporting building maintenance needs on occasion
Moving furniture and equipment in the line of performing normal custodian functions
Preparing and monitoring rooms for conferences and meetings and securing afterwards (may include some weekend work)
May monitor contractor activity while in County facilities. Will lock and un-lock buildings at the start and end of each business day.
Raising, lowering, folding and storing flags
Responding to on-site inquiries from the public and help resolve custodian services requests
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
One year of custodial experience
(An equivalent combination of education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job may be sufficient).
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Possession of a valid Class "R" Colorado Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
Must successfully pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, background and motor vehicle check.
Will also require post-hire fingerprinting, a CBI background check and successfully completing bi-annual Colorado Justice Information System training.
Must be able to work nights and weekends on a full-time basis.
Position is deemed essential and incumbents must be available for during winter storm emergencies and available to work on an on-call on a rotation basis which requires evening, holidays and weekends.
Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business need.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives general supervision from the Facilities Custodial Supervisor and Lead Custodian. Majority of work duties are performed independently.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
Contacts are generally limited to co-workers and supervisors. Involve receiving direction or discussing the less routine aspects of the assignment. May occasionally be in contact with the public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is generally performed indoors and requires exposure to dust, fumes and chemical cleaners. Specific assignments may require occasional outdoor work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
Operates 120 lb. floor buffer requiring pushing, pulling and occasional lifting with help to strip and wash floors.
Constantly stands, walks, stoops, bends and reaches during shift.
Occasionally lifting trash bags, wash buckets, boxes, chairs, tables, etc. which may be heavy, bulky or awkward.
Occasionally required to lift heavy and awkward objects, up to 60 lbs. from ground level to waist or higher. Use team lifting for objects weighing over 50 lbs.
Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication.
Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination while using custodial equipment.
Physical capacity to safely operate County machinery.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
